γ Persei: a challenge for stellar evolution models
نویسنده
چکیده
From the published visual and spectroscopic observations together with some unpublished radial velocities kindly provided by R.F. Griffin, we determine an orbit which accurately reproduces the time of the primary eclipse observed by Griffin et al. (1994) and also recompute Hipparcos astrometric parameters. The orbital parallax is slightly off with respect to Hipparcos whereas the agreement of the masses with the spectral types is better than with previous estimates. These masses being hypothesis-free, they can be used as milestones for stellar evolution models.

Perturbations by Mass Loss in the Orbital Elements of Γ Persei and Α Centauri
Prieto and Docobo's approach to the two-body problem with isotropic mass loss is used to study the dynamical evolution of the orbital elements of the binaries γ Persei and α Centauri under the assumption that mass losses obey the Eddington-Jeans law, with separate parameters for each component of the binaries.
متن کاملThe Ages of Early-type Stars: Strömgren Photometric Methods Calibrated, Validated, Tested, and Applied to Hosts and Prospective Hosts of Directly Imaged Exoplanets
Age determination is undertaken for nearby early type (BAF) stars, which constitute attractive targets for highcontrast debris disk and planet imaging surveys. Our analysis sequence consists of acquisition of b uvby photometry from catalogs, correction for the effects of extinction, interpolation of the photometry onto model atmosphere grids from which atmospheric parameters are determined, and...
متن کاملRelativistic Stellar Models with Quadratic Equation of State
In this paper, we have obtained and presented new relativistic stellar configurations considering an anisotropic fluid distribution with a charge distribution and a gravitational potential Z(x) that depends on an adjustable parameter. The quadratic equation of state based on Feroze and Siddiqui viewpoint is used for the matter distribution. The new solutions can be written in terms of elementar...
متن کاملTerrestrial Zone Debris Disk Candidates in H and Χ Persei
We analyze 8 sources with strong mid-infrared excesses in the 13 Myr-old double cluster h and χ Persei. New optical spectra and broadband SEDs (0.36-8 μm) are consistent with cluster membership. We show that material with T∼300-400 K and Ld/L⋆ ∼10 -10 produces the excesses in these sources. Optically-thick blackbody disk models including those with large inner holes do not match the observed SE...
